Each New Year brings exciting challenges, plans, and resolutions. As the months go by it becomes increasingly easy to lose interest in maintaining that new year momentum. Periodically checking in with yourself and your goals is a great way to ensure that you are continuing to make progress throughout the year.
Life happens, and often it finds a way to be disruptive to our plans! However, if you look at your life goals like you would a long and amazing journey, you would most likely tolerate a few stops and layovers, just like any trip you take. Remember, as long as you get where you need to go, despite the interruptions and setbacks, we still call that a success.
The new year often brings the inspiration for change and growth. Some of these changes might include sprucing up your space, finding ways to improve your work flow or work-life balance. You may also have decided that getting organized, or finally digitizing all those family photos you have in your basement somewhere is on your list! Improving the quality of your space can often have a positive effect on your life. If you have goals oriented around improving your space, we suggest dividing up tasks to make a series of smaller achievable goals and assigning deadlines to each goal.

Changes to your space can look different for everyone. It may mean incorporating new shelving systems that help organize your storage or tearing down a wall and completely redesigning a room starting from scratch. But let's remember that regardless of your project, "Rome wasn't built in a day". Having achievable goals with deadlines help us check in with ourselves and reevaluate our approach to tackling our projects. It also drives personal accountability.
How do you know when it is time to check in with yourself or your goals? Here are some signs.
You don't know where to begin
You feel overwhelmed in your scheduled tasks
Your motivation has left the building
Progress seems to be at a standstill
Here are some solutions:
Start small! Schedule a time to work on your project and commit to only working on that project during that allocated time.
It's all about balance. Work within your schedule to find times that work the best you. If you need to reschedule tasks that is okay, just make sure that you do so right away!
Don't underestimate the power of small achievable goals! These can act as stepping stones towards your overarching goal and provide the motivational feeling of progress and accomplishment.
Similar to Newton's 1st law of motion, a project at rest will remain at rest unless acted upon by an external force. Most of the time having the motivation to kickstart that momentum is all you need. May the force be with you!

You can do it and we can help! Using local resources to support you in accomplishing your goals is a great way to streamline the process.
